The Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II Lens is a full-frame S-Line standard zoom designed for photographers and videographers who need a versatile focal range, fast autofocus, and consistent f/2.8 performance in a lighter, more agile package. Its 24-70mm range covers wide-angle landscapes and interiors through portraits, events, street photography, and everyday shooting, while the constant f/2.8 aperture provides consistent exposure and strong subject separation throughout the zoom range.

A major upgrade over the previous generation is Nikon’s internal zoom mechanism, which keeps the lens at a consistent physical length and maintains its balance while zooming. This is particularly useful when shooting handheld or on a gimbal. At approximately 675g, the S II is also substantially lighter than the original 805g version.

The new 14-element, 10-group optical design incorporates two ED and three aspherical elements, along with Nikon’s Meso Amorphous and ARNEO coatings to suppress flare and ghosting. An 11-blade rounded diaphragm helps produce smooth, rounded bokeh.

For video and fast-moving subjects, Nikon’s Silky Swift Voice Coil Motors (SSVCM) work with a multi-focusing system to provide fast, precise, and quiet autofocus. Focus breathing is also suppressed, while close focusing reaches 0.24m at 24mm and 0.33m at 70mm, with up to 0.32x reproduction.
