Released in 2025, it features a 44.3MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor with Dual Native ISO and improved noise reduction, offering an ISO range expandable from 40 to 102,400 for excellent low-light capabilities. The sensor supports an advanced High-Resolution mode that combines multiple images via sensor-shift technology to create ultra-high-res 177MP composite photos—even when shooting handheld—ideal for landscapes and studio work.

Panasonic Lumix S1R II boasts a newly developed 779-point Phase Hybrid Autofocus system with AI subject detection that tracks humans, animals, vehicles, and even trains and planes, making it suitable forsports, wildlife, and fast-action photography. Continuous shooting reaches up to 40fps with AF-C/AF-S, with mechanical shutter options retaining higher bit–depth and dynamic range.

In video, the S1R II supports 8K 30p and 6.4K open-gate recording, 4K 120p slow-motion, andinternal ProRes RAW HQ recording alongside external RAW over HDMI/USB-C. It includesadvanced video assist tools like waveforms, vector scopes, real-time LUTs, and false color, supporting professional workflows. The camera offers 8–stop 5-axis In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) with Active IS for smooth, cropless video even when walking or panning.

The body is crafted from durable magnesium alloy, is dust, splash, and freeze-resistant, andweighs a relatively lightweight 1.75 lbs (795g), 25% lighter than its predecessor. Its large 5.76 million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder and 3.2-inch 1.89 million-dot tilting touchscreen LCD offer sharp, color-accurate previews.
